Travellanda Strengthens its Sales Team

Travellanda, the fastest-growing wholesale travel company in the UK, has appointed two new Sales & Business Development managers, Carrie Lo Sze Wai and Levin De Melo. Carrie will be responsible for growing Travellanda’s business in Asia, although mostly China, and Levin will cover India, the Middle East, UK, US, Portugal and Brazil. Both have been set ambitious targets; Carrie and her team will be expected to lift Asia-Pacific sales by 30% from 2017 levels to £15m and Levin and his team have been set a 19% increase to £13.3m in his region. Overall, Travellanda is aiming for 25% year on year growth, which would take 2018 revenues to £76.4m.

After beginning her career as a flight attendant with Kingfisher, Carrie has gained a decade of experience working in the travel industry in Hong Kong in a variety of sales, business development and customer relations positions for Gateway, Pacific Leisure, Miki and, latterly, JacTravel. Prior to joining Travellanda, Levin accumulated over 20 years’ experience working in sales, marketing and general management roles in travel in India and Dubai, most notably for Destinations Unlimited, Sunny Tours, DTTS, Alshamel Holidays and GTA, before moving to London to work for Global DMC.

Denise Atkinson, Head of Sales & Marketing, said: “I am so pleased that Carrie and Levin have joined the team. Carrie has a tremendous breadth of expertise and is an exceptionally resourceful and well-organised individual, with some impressive achievements under her belt. Levin has been very effective in building relationships with trade customers on behalf of a leading accommodation wholesaler. Both have worked for a number of highly-regarded travel companies; so, I am confident that they will make an immediate, positive contribution to our sales performance and the way in which we look after our clients.”

Carrie added: “What really impresses me about Travellanda is its exceptional track record of growth. That’s hard to ignore and makes me excited about future career development potential.”

Travellanda was recently listed in 170th position in the FT 1,000, which is a ranking compiled by the Financial Times of the top 1,000 companies in 31 countries across Europe that have achieved the highest percentage growth in revenues between 2013 and 2016. Travellanda was one of just 158 companies from the UK, far fewer than in the 2017 listing. Overall, there were just 27 other Travel & Leisure companies named and Travellanda was ranked 8th with revenue growth of 774%, to £60.5m, over the three-year period. Since it was founded in 2010, the company has grown to a team of 40 staff.

Denise and Carrie will be available for meetings at ITB China on Booth 251.
